2007年4月,美国犹他州立大学动物、乳品和兽医科学系研究助理教授李光鹏受聘我校哺乳动物生殖生物学及生物技术教育部重点实验室长江学者特聘教授岗位,成为我校自2000年被教育部批准设立特聘长江学者教授岗位以来第一位受聘到我校的长江学者。
据了解, 1998年8月4日,由教育部和香港爱国实业家李嘉诚先生及其领导的长江基建(集团)有限公司共向筹资设立的“长江学者奖励计划”全面启动。
“长江学者奖励计划”内容包括建立特聘教授岗位制度和设立“长江学者成就奖”。设置特聘教授岗位的学科必须是对我国经济社会发展具有重大意义,在学术上达到或最有可能达到国际先进水平的国家重点建设学科或者教学科研实力雄厚,处于国际学科发展前沿,有望实现重大突破的新兴学科。特聘教授岗位职责为:讲授本学科核心课程;主持国家重大科研项目研究;领导本学科学术梯队建设;带领本学科在其前沿领域赶超或保持国际先进水平。
获准设置特聘教授岗位的高等学校面向国内外公开招聘学术造诣深、发展潜力大、具有领导本学科能力的中青年杰出人才。受聘特聘教授岗位的人员在聘期内享受每年10万元人民币的岗位津贴;同时享受所在学校按照国家有关规定提供的工资、保险、福利等待遇。对任职期间取得重大成就、作出重大贡献的特聘教授将给予重奖。李嘉诚先生出资1000万元港币设立“长江学者成就奖”,每年奖励一次。
